Growth Mindset

I like the idea of growth mindset, i think it is a very refreshing way to look at challenges in life especially education. I have never heard of Carol Dweck or the growth mindset before,  I only learned about it when i did this reading task. I have never thought about how I see myself on the spectrum of growth-fixed mindset in my schoolwork but i do think that if i personally was thought about it at a younger age maybe in primary school i would not have struggled so much with Irish or Math. I was told at a young age that I had dyslexia and was given the opportunity to drop Irish completely as a subject multiple times. Iv been offered spelling wavers, readers etc. But I never took any of them because i was to embarrassed people would find out so when i got to secondary school i just stopped raising my hand completely. This is why i like the growth fixed mindset, it takes the taboo and embarrassment from getting things wrong or doing bad in a test and rewards the process which would definitely encourage kids to participate with out worrying about shouting out the wrong answer. I would definitely be interested to learn more about the growth-fixed mindset. I am a little worried about all my modules this year, i really utilized all the lecturers help during last semester i every module but this year we are a lot more independent, i also think I am not as skilled as i should be in most things we learned last year.

Introduction to a college student during a pandemic..

My name is Ellen Roche, I am 21 and currently a second year student studying Creative Digital Media at TUDublin Blanchardstown from the comfort of the own home (for now). I work in Boots in Blanch Shopping canter, iv worked there about a year and half stocking shelves, doing tills and  often getting roped into staying back and cashing up. I like working there the staff are sound and the work is easy.
My favourite module last year was Web Development but this was also the most challenging for me and my biggest achievement was definitely creating  ten page website from scratch. I spent so many hours on that website a few days before it was due i spent almost nine hours on it in two sitting I took a break to eat dominos.
My favourite Takeaway food is definitely Camile's crispy chilli chicken or their spicbag. A boojum, if you've never had a burrito bowl from boojum I am so sorry or crab meat ravioli from labucca, if you know you know. My favourite food to make from scratch is sushi I normally will make ten rolls and have two for lunch ever day for a week thee is nothing better feel free to try change my mind in the comments.

The sushi I made last week, tastes better than it looks!

I dot have many hobbies anymore unless you count scrolling on tiktok for hours on end. I did read a lot during quarantine I got up to about three books a week. I normally have a book going at all time even if I only read a chapter every second night. I have recently bought three books of depop Asking For It by Louise O'Neill, Conversations With Friends by Sally Rooney and All The Bright Places by Jennifer Nievan. I used to by my books off book depository but now i get them on depop second hand unless I cant find them. I am making my way though a list of recommendation that is in the back of my journal.

Favourite Games

I have never been into PC or console games but I did have about three Gameboys and Nintendo DSs when I was younger. My favourite game franchise of all time is definitely Mario! I have owned multiple Mario games for the Wii like Mario Galaxy and just Mario Bros, For my Nintendo DS, My old Gameboy and on my phone. I have also completed most of these games multiple times Mario Run I completed and deleted to redownload and start again, I go through phases of plying it constantly. It is one of the only apps iv ever paid for on my iPhone.

This is a screenshot of my phone screen.
